COMMUNITY SERVICE CORNER
SUPPORT FOR TURKEY AND SYRIA

Many in the Beaumont community may be looking for ways to support the people of Turkey and Syria whose lives have been impacted by the recent devastating earthquakes. A Beaumont parent from Turkey has assembled the following list of ways to support Earthquake relief efforts for those who may be interested:

The Turkish Embassy in Washington, DC is accepting donations via mail. Amazon might be a good option. 2525 Massachusetts Ave, NW, Washington DC 20008.

NBC10 has an article about this: The Turkish Embassy in Washington, D.C., and Turkish Consulates around the country are accepting in-kind assistance. Those interested are asked to send donations of blankets, tents, sleeping bags, pocket warmers, winter clothing and over-the-counter medications for flu, cold, and pain killers to Turkish Embassy and Turkish Consulates across the U.S. by mail or through in person drop-off.

For those who prefer monetary donations, below is a list of reliable organizations. Some companies match the donations so it might be worth checking with an HR contact:

New York Times article on how to help the victims: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/02/06/world/europe/helping-earthquake-victims-turkey-syria.html
